Classes for Adults and Teens

Simple Block Printing
Learn a simple printmaking technique that will help you create fun unique and designs for one of a
kind home accessories or gifts. Participants will create a set of 10 cards and are welcome to bring
other objects to print on, like napkins, pillow cases or T-shirts
Who: Adults and teens. Older children are welcome with an adult.
Cost: $25, including most supplies. (Minimum: 5 students)
When: Satuday, November 19, 2016, 10am – 12pm

Shibori Dyed Scarf or T-shirt
In this one-session workshop we will use the Japanese style of tie dye to create unique and beautiful
patterns by binding, stitching, folding and twisting. Participants can dye a 6 x 72 scarf or t-shirt.
Who: Adults and teens. Older children are welcome with an adult.
Cost: $75, including all supplies. (Minimum: 5 students)
When: Saturday, December 3, 2016, 10am- Noon

Sea Weed Marbling
Sea Weed Marbling is an ancient printmaking technique that involves floating paint on top of water in
order to create beautiful designs. Using various implements, such as forks, chopsticks, toothpicks or
corn holders, you will create your designs in the floating paint. When your design is ready it will be
printed on fabric or paper. As you master the elements of this process, you’ll want to do more and
more. Materials are included.
Who: Adults and teens. Older children are welcome with an adult.
Cost: $35, including all supplies. (Minimum: 5 students)
When: Saturday, January 21, 2017, 10:00-Noon.

Mixed Media Canvas Painting
Come create a fun and personal 8 x 10 canvas using paint, permanent markers, art papers, glue and
more! Bring your own laser copies of your favorite photographs to add your own personal touch.
These paintings make wonderful gifts!
Who: Teens and Adults
Cost: $65, includes some supplies. (Minimum: 5 students)
When: Friday, March17, 2017, 6:30pm-8:30pm

 

Batik and Dye Painting
Batik is the ancient art process of “writing” or painting with hot wax. During this day long workshop,
you will create your own batik designs using both soy wax and other “resists.” You will learn to paint
with dyes and explore immersion dyeing techniques. Projects will include a choice between a scarf or
wall hanging. Participants should also bring 1 yard of pre-washed cotton fabric.
Who: Teens and Adults
Cost: $100 (includes some supplies)
When: Saturday, April 1, 2017, 9:30-3:30.

Inspirational Art Flags
Inspired by Tibetan prayer flags, Art Flags express the intentions, wishes, dreams or other aspirations
of the artist. In this workshop, students will create Art Flags that illustrate their wishes or dreams for
themselves, their family and/or community. Each student will create his/her own set of 4-5 Art Flag(s)
by drawing with dye pens, painting and/or printing on colorful fabric squares. The individual flags are
then hung together, prayer/peace flag style*, to create a banner that can be displayed at home or
given as a gift.
Who: Adults and teens. Older children are welcome with an adult.
Cost: $35, including all supplies. (Minimum: 5 students)
